Along with Isabella's room, this company proved that it has incredible artistic qualities. Today, with its last production, The blind poet, it impresses once again with its extremely strong and contemporary techniques. Jan Lauwers designs a dramaturgy full of singularities, where storytelling, dance, music and imagery mesh together. In this show, the stage director works with the theme of interculturality, which is currently a particularly hot topic. Every member of the company will unveil parts of their family tree. Each person is from a different nationality, speaks a different language, and naturally, has a different religious conviction. This situation creates a large tale with great characters who, as if they came straight out of a deep and extravagant dream, paint an accurate story of history, identity, immigration and the acceptance of others. While each story raises interesting questions in the mind of the spectator, the presence in the final scene of a Muslim Tunisian dancer evokes deep reflections on today's reality. As an incredible producer and a talented stage director, Lauwers likes to deconstruct scenic theater and does so by very authentic and provocative means, which leads the public to experience a personal and troubling work that cannot them leave feeling indifferent.
