With Invisible Time, we want to share the time of creation - the invisible time before the finalised performance - with our audience. By doing so, we let them take an inside look into the substance of a performance and a dive into the world surrounding it.
It is a powerful statement that connects audiences to our company on a deeper level. Invisible Time forces us to approach this connection differently. The spectators are there from the beginning and we have to think about how much we share and how we can strengthen our bond with them.
"Shakespeare is an opportunity, it's the next step"
In our second Invisible Time video about Billy's Violence, we focus on the (ongoing process of creating) music with Maarten Seghers (composer).
"To do Shakespeare is to say hello to history, to become humble..."
In our first Invisible Time video about Billy's Violence, we focus on the conception through conversations with Jan Lauwers (director) and Victor Lauwers (writer).
Welcome to Invisible Time! On this platform, we want to share the time of creation - the invisible time before the finalised performance - with our audience. By doing so, we let you take an inside look into the substance of a performance and a dive into the world surrounding it. It is a powerful statement to seek connection on a deeper level. Invisible Time forces us to approach our artistic practice differently. The spectators, you, are there from the beginning and we have to think about how much we share and how we can strengthen our bond with you.
Billy’s Violence is the ideal performance for the first iteration of Invisible Time. It embodies the spirit of Needcompany with a European cast, a nice stage design and a historical angle of approach. This gives a good breeding ground for creative content that's compelling to you.
To develop this content, we try to stay close to DIY digital aesthetics - like we apply in our daily life for the sake of work, family life and leisure - with a hint of analogue media. We want to be confronted with the limitations and focus they require. Polaroid pictures, lo-fi videos, rough cuts and stream-of-thought texts... These are all examples of possible outputs through Invisible Time.
Without further ado, we welcome you to the world of Billy's Violence, a play based on the tragedies of Shakespeare, written by Victor Lauwers and directed by Jan Lauwers with music by Maarten Seghers.
