Dark Riviera - created by and for top talent from various entertainment industries worldwide - invited Needcompany to be the Belgian artistic think tank within their ambitious European initiative 'War Room Content'. This project takes shape in a writers’ room that aims to fundamentally redefine the way content is created, particularly for European audiovisual formats.

Since March 2023, Dark Riviera has been collaborating with an impressive and diverse group of individuals, including Pavla Holcová (Czech Centre for Investigative Journalism OCCRP, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize), Reporters Without Borders, psychologist Christer Mattsson, the Finnish media company YLE, the French production company Sciapode, the CEE TV conference Serial Killer, and Needcompany. 
Starting from the belief that in-depth and relevant stories are crucial to interrogating and strengthening European core values, the focus lies on developing content around four core themes: human security, humanity and technology, humanity and its impact on the environment, and unity through diversity.

Thanks to European Union funding, new pathways are being forged for transdisciplinary collaboration across borders, with Needcompany acting as a bridge between the creative process and key societal stakeholders. 

As a playwright and researcher, Victor Lauwers, together with writer, artist, and philosopher Luna Kies, has since 2023 been focusing on transmedia storytelling, shining a spotlight on themes including the Belgian government, state security, international corruption, and money laundering.
