The piece alternates between the tragicomic and the grotesque, between musical and video art, ostentatious “eighties kitsch” and subtle poetry. Jan Lauwers doesn’t judge, but utilises his team of wonderful artists, who are so much more than just actor, dancer or performer. Their complexity forms the basis for an equally complex dramaturgical and conceptual structure. The separate pieces intertwine, occasionally forcing us to focus our attention on a single aspect. They implode and explode. What’s left is the remains of a community sentenced to impossible coexistence.
